2011 Villain Review: Fire Lord

Hi,
My brother got the Fire Lord for his birthday and he actually turned out quite well as a set. I admit that I had my doubts about him because compared to the other sets he seemed rushed and like the designers didn't put enough effort into it as they could've done. I'll cover why in the design section of my review but first I'm going to cover...

...the Build which is great. At the start there is a massive range of ball joints and it makes you wonder how everything is going to connect but the all ave their uses and contribute to a simple yet engaging build. There is no debate that the build gets a rating of 10/10

Now for New Pieces and there are a lot of them. First of is the large variant of the skeletal body piece which is in orange and has more pin holes than the other ones but still has the same width. He also has four exclusive printed pieces which give a good fire effect to the character but it also looks a bit like red lightning but that's fairly easy to look over. He also has the new hands in silver which won't be exclusive for long after we get Bulk 3.0 however they are still cool and provide good MoCing opportunity. New pieces is another 10/10

Now for the design where the ratings drop. The colour scheme is to mixed and on the waist there is a light orange thrown at you which isn't seen showing anywhere else on the model, however it is on the inside, but what makes it worse is that it just makes the thin waist stick out which does not look good with the bulky legs. Don't let the box art deceive you as the weapon covers up this models only con. There is the double head also but I won't go into much detail with that. The Design, unfortunately, gets a rating of 6/10

The playability is average but to have this larger character amongst the group it will increase the playability opportunity for the younger crowd quite a bit so I give it a 8/10

I the Overall rating, I say that he's a great set if you look over his waist and if you just want to display him on a shelf then put him in a stance like on the box. Equally, if your a MoCist, this set provides both inspiration and great parts. I give him an overall rating of 8/10

That was my review of the Fire Lord and bellow is my bothers opinion of this set. I'm sorry that I have missed out Breez but if I see the opportunity then I will buy her to review. Also, next month will feature my first mission in a new series. I added a video player from MixPod.com so I hope you enjoy that new addition to my blog so in the meantime, please comment and follow,

Fire Lord Opinion
Hi,
Above are my thoughts on the HeroFactory set Fire Lord and I gave him an overall rating of 8/10 but this is the part of the review where my brother says what he thinks of his new set:

One thing I like is the way that his large weapon was designed and the fact that they re-used some older pieces like Furno's weapons. I also like the large body piece which is unique and has a cool colour. I don't like the upper legs because of the lac of armour. I will go over my brothers rating and give him a 9/10

That was my brother opinion and await more reviews to come next month. Please comment and follow,

HeroFactory Site Updated!!!

Hi,
The HeroFactory Website now has new bios and a background story on the new mission. There is also videos and other great features too. I haven't found out much about Rocka except that he's a rookie following in Furno's footsteps. Still nothing about how he becomes Rocka XL or anything. There is probably going to be a new episode or two as there are some pictures on the story page. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. Click here to see the updated website and all the new changes in person. Also, expect a review of Fire Lord next, I apologise that I still don't have Breez 2.0 yet but I'll try to cover her later with the 2010 sets I missed. I hopefully will be getting Thunder on my birthday which is this time next month! I also hope to get some new 3.0 sets. Please comment and follow,

Hero Factory: Oredeal of Fire Episode Review

Hi,
The next instalment of the Hero Factory TV series, Ordeal of Fire, was resiliently shown on TV and is now on You Tube. Click here for part one and here for part two. Now I will be giving my thoughts on the episode and what I would rate it. My favourite part was when Stormer, Breez and Furno arrived on Tanker Station 22 in their upgraded form and Stormer was fighting the Fire Lord. In the original series the villains voices just didn't seem evil enough and a bit more of a joke to me. However, with the villains in the new series I think they chose better voices especially the Fire Lord who seemed a lot better villain than Von Nebula did. I'm also a big fan of Dee Bradley Baker so hearing him voice the Fire Lord in this was a nice surprise for me. With the Hero's voices they are basically the same except because of the introduction of Nex and Evo their are some new ones in there. Nex was perfect and fit his character very well but I think they may have gone over the top a bit with Evo but I guess its good to get some variety in there and it fit his character quite well. The story of it was short but sweet. I would have preferred it if they made a two-part episode for this because at some points it did seem rushed unlike some of the earlier ones like Trials of Furno and Core Crisis. I hope they can improve on the mistakes I have pointed out if the make one for the new summer sets while keeping up the good parts like the voicing. I would rate the episode Ordeal of Fire as a 8/10 because of the reasons above. Please comment and follow,

New Hero Factory Witch Doctor Picture!!!

Hi,
We don't have long until the release of the summer sets and we finally have a non-watermarked image of the new main villain for Savage Planet, the Witch Doctor. Here is the picture:
I am really looking forward to this summer as Hero Factory is getting better and better. In the mean time I'm got some older sets to catch up on from 2010 and I will review them as soon as I get them. Next will be my review on the Hero Factory episode 'Ordeal of Fire' which I think is the best episode yet. Please comment and follow,

2011 Villain Review: Drilldozer

Hi,
I got my Brother Drilldozer the same time I got myself Nex 2.0 which I have already reviewed. Now its Drilldozer's turn and I must say that I did underestimate him. At first I thought that the colour scheme just didn't work well enough but now that I am seeing him in person he looks great. There is the con of the Fire Lord's head on the back but other than that its fine. Now to start of with is...

...the Build which is fairly similar to Nitroblast's. It goes double up on the drill arm and uses a new piece to connect. Same as Nitroblast, the build gets a full on 10/10

New pieces include the exclusive piece with printing on it. Each villain has one and Fire Lord has four but there is something different with Drilldozer and that is the size. Its the medium one like on Evo's yellow armour. Another new piece is the shoulder armour which goes over the body and attaches on with two clips to snap onto the ball joint on the skeletal body. The main new piece is one that has two ball joints and some pins to attach to place like the skeletal body and whatnot, its awesome and great for any Hero Factory or Bionicle MoC creator. Finally there's the head which, unfortunately, has the Fire Lords head on the back. however it still looks cool and holds a lot of character in it, it attaches by the older trans-clear head rather than the solid coloured new ones. The new pieces get a rating of 10/10

The Design surprised me as I thought the colour scheme didn't work at first but in person its really good the red is used a lot and is not just a random colour they stuck in there for the sake of it. From the back there's not enough silver to make the Fire Lords head fit in so it makes it look very out of place but not as much as Nitroblast's head on the back of Jetbug did because that was just horrible. The idea of him having with a shoulder mounted weapon is great and its an improvement over Corroder's as this on has more articulation which is great. Its because of this that design gets a 8/10

Playability, doesn't need anything to be said about it. Its the normal 7/10

Overall, Drilldozer is just plane awesome and better than what you expect. If you are a bit unsure whether or not to get him I say if you have the money to use then take a chance because I was unsure and I love him. If you like him then I recommend picking him up if you get the chance. Overall he misses full marks just because of the Fire Lords head, this leaves him with a rating of 9/10

That was my review of Drilldozer and now for my brothers bellow but before that I want to say that the next review will be on the last 2.0 Hero Breez followed by the awesome Fire Lord. Please comment and follow,

Drilldozer Opinion
Hi,
Above is my review and thoughts on Drilldozer and because this is my Brothers set its his turn to say what he thinks about this villain. I gave it a 9/10 but its not about what I think, its about what he thinks now:

What I like is the new shoulder armour piece because it covers his back a bit unlike Jetbug and Nitroblast. I also like the drill because it has a cool colour and fits the character very well. The one thing I think is bad about him is that he went double up on the arms for extra support because I think this sticks out and is unnecessary. So overall I give Drilldozer a rating of 9/10

That was my brothers opinion and as you can see we both gave the same overall rating so we say buy it but it is your choice if you want to or not and these reviews are here to help you know what your getting, plus I enjoy making them. Please comment and follow,

2011 Hero Review: Nex 2.0

Hi,
I got Nex 2.0 while I was away and Drilldozer for my brother, a big hint for what the next review will be. He's so awesome that I don't want to waist any time and get right onto the review:

The build is basic and I don't really need to say any thing. Its a solid 8/10

New pieces are basically all the same as other sets. He does have these cool saw pieces for his weapon which have quite a sleek robotic texture to them and only come in the gun metal colour. Also in gunmetal is the visor which is quite curved in design and different to the others which are more square and bulky, it has fine small details like a buzz-saw and a antenna along with some other things too. His unique piece is the same style as the others and is in white, orange and black. He has the new head, spike and core in a dark green which I don't think we've seen LEGO do in a long time. Other parts are generic only in different colours so new pieces gets a 10/10

Design is great and the colour scheme helps a lot. Orange and green work well with each other and make him look a bit like a carrot colour wise. Moving away from that he is basic and a new colour to have for a Hero. The return of the old green gives me hope for a Hero with that coloured armour in the future but we'll have to wait and see. The design, great as it is, gets a 7/10

Playability is another thing I don't need to say anything about. As always with the Hero's its a 6/10

Overall I think that Nex 2.0 is a great Hero and I really enjoyed adding him to my collection. He gets a well deserved rating of 9/10

Thanks for reading this review of Nex 2.0 and I hope it helped you decide whether or not you want to add him to your collection. Next review will be of Drilldozer and it'll include my bothers opinion as it is his set. Since my story Mission 2.0 is now over I don't have much to post about mission wise but I am planning the Savage Plant series and it will probably be made up of 10 missions.
